What can I do to get the appropriate open source driver installed? I can tell it is taxing my system somewhat as windows open slowly and scrolling in a browser window can be slow sometimes as well. According to what I have read, this is software rendering driver. Now, when i login, the driver that is listed is a Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe(LLVM 3.4 128 bits). Did a reboot, and a ctrl-alt-F1 and was able to purge the fglrx drivers. Afterwards, I could only get the login screen, and after putting in my password, would briefly get a black screen and would kick me back to the login screen. So, I went to AMD's website, and after some reading, downloaded Catalyst 13.1(the last version that supported my card) and proceeded to install. After the install, the driver that was shown in the About this Computer window was VESA:RV620, which I am not sure is the open source driver or just a generic driver. I do, however, seem to be having some trouble with the video driver. I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 and it loaded with relatively little trouble. I have used it at work and like it a lot.

Well they arent included because ati has really crappy drivers e the omega drivers.they give some performance gains.I am in the process of weening everyone off of Windows xp and moving over to Linux. Use the xp drivers instead.extract them.and point the driver finder thing in device manger to look at the folder you just extracted.

Or if you are using windows vista 64 bit or just vista 32 Then just do randomly around downloading things like using realtek drivers for the same thing (if this doesnt work look at the line above.

Use the cd that came with the card to install drivers.(do this only if the next step didnt work)ĭowload the ati catalyst complete pack drivers and install it over the software from the cd. Once done these two things-reboot computer Then use crapcleaner (ccleaner) to remove the crap outta your computer+fix registry problems. Use driver cleaner pro to completely remove any drivers. I had the tv capture edition so the drivers were also kinda funny at first. Man the x700 pro was the best card ive ever had.at least the one that i found best in personal satisfaction.threw every game at it and it chugged its way through.
